My (current) favorite Mumford & Sons songs

I've really fallen in love with Mumford & Sons' "Babel," so I was happy to see it take home the Album of the Year Grammy Award last night. In the past couple of months, "Babel" and the group's 2009 album "Sigh No More" have been in quite heavy rotation in my iTunes library.

Last night during the Grammy Awards, Mumford & Sons performed "I Will Wait":

That song — and "The Cave" — are what drew me to the group, but my current favorite songs are "Not With Haste" and "Ghosts That We Knew" from "Babel," and "After the Storm" from "Sigh No More." Check those out below:

"The Cave":

People who know how to use the Internet don't know who Paul McCartney is

(Editor's note: A lot of the links below link to Internet comments, which tend to contain foul language and poor grammar. Click at your own risk.)

I was going to blog about all of the people who took to social media to ask who is Bonnie Bear, after Bon Iver won Best New Artist at last night's Grammy Awards, spurring the same outrage as Arcade Fire (Who is Arcade Fire??!!?) after the group won Album of the Year at last year's Grammy Awards. But then I came across something much, much worse than fans of pop music complaining because they don't know the talented indie act that beat their favorite rapper for the gold gramophone.

Who is Paul McCartney?!

Yes, people who were watching the Grammy Awards last night -- and therefore are presumably fans of music -- complained about the old guy rocking on stage. They wondered if he was Jesse McCartney's father. They said the song he played sucks.

So many people were asking about him on Twitter that Who is Paul McCartney is a trending topic.

This is your future, America. Please teach your children about The Beatles.

That's probably not the worst thing that's been said on social media. The tweet below pretty well sums up my feelings:

Grammy performers announced

People seem to have problems with the Grammy awards for whatever reason, but at least this year it looks like the show will be entertaining.

From The Associated Press:
NEW YORK (AP) — Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars both have six Grammy nominations, including album of the year. And now both acts will perform at the award show.

The Recording Academy announced Thursday that Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson will also hit the stage at 54th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 12. Kanye West leads with seven nominations.
Adele is also up for six Grammys, including album, song and record of the year. She’s currently recovering from surgery on her vocal cords and her sophomore album, “21,” was last year’s top seller.
Other multiple nominees include Skrillex, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons. The Grammys will air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

I'm looking forward to some of those performances, though not so much the awards part of the show.

Those of us in the office during the show usually predict winners (for bragging rights only). I get teased for being the most enthusiastic about making picks but generally picking the fewest winners. It seems the Grammy tends to go to musicians I've never heard of or know little about. (Though I did love when Arcade Fire won Album of the Year last year, because I do really like that album.)
