All the President's Men ... if they tweeted

With the 40th anniversary of the Watergate burglary on June 17, many people have written about how the ensuing investigation and how it was covered would have been different today.

This includes Twitter, which Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, authors of "All the President's Men," didn't have access to in 1972.

What if they did? Here's a sample of what their tweets might have looked like (some suspension of disbelief required):

Court on a Saturday morning for a botched burglarly attempt? Better be important #somuchforoffday

#CIA? This just got interesting

Anyone here speak Spanish? #needtranslator

Who stole my New York Times? I need MY copy #mindyourownbusiness #crosswordpuzzle

Better move my flower pot so it gets more sun today #botany

Man, this guy smokes a lot #goodsourcethough

Getting a cab at 3 a.m. shouldn't be this difficult #noiwasntdrinking

No one wants to do video #smh

MacGregor, Magruder #keepitstraight

The federal agents tailing me keep showing up in the background of my intros and outros #digitalfirst

Bradlee just yelled "Woodstein!" across newsroom #uhoh

Hope 40 years from now, people don't put "gate" at the end of every controversy to make a nickname. #notclever
